You may learn a concept of “expensive” and “unaffordable” art pieces when getting the news on sky-high transaction prices at the auctions. In fact, some art pieces do sell at high prices and become the headline of the market. However, you could still have a lot of choices to pick your favourite and affordable one, if you are willing to do some research. Don't panic if you don't know where to start, Articks is going to introduce you to three artworks, they are created by top artists, under HKD $15,000 each, and most importantly they all got appreciation potential, worth collecting!
The first piece is a screen print called “Many Things Await Beyond Anywhere Door (Dokodemo Door)” launched by Takashi Murakami in 2020. What makes the painting so special? It is the rainbow flower, the key theme of Takashi Murakami, plus the characters from Doraemon. Who can resist Doraemon, Nobita, Shizuka, Suneo and Takeshi, with such colourfulness of the print! With Takashi Murakami's autograph, it is limited to 1000 pieces only. Murakami and such a kind of special collaboration has already made a guarantee on its value, well-worth!
The second collection is a set of three blue screen-printed ceramic plates named as “Life is Only One”, which was launched by Yoshitomo Nara in 2015. This set of plates is exclusively designed for the Asia Society Hong Kong Centre, each plate is printed along with Yoshitomo's big-headed girl and specially marked with the Chinese characters of “Hong Kong, Kowloon and New Territories” . Limited to 1800 sets, with the autograph of Yoshitomo and equipped with the features of Hong Kong, shouldn't be missed by a newbie.
The last piece Articks will introduce you to Yoshitomo Nara's “DORAMICHAN’s Ribbon”. The artist combined the Doraemon with her wide-eyed girl to create this painting. “DORAMICHAN’s Ribbon” is actually created in the same period with “Cosmic Girl”. Although “Cosmic Girl” is more widely known when compared to “DORAMICHAN’s Ribbon”, however “DORAMICHAN’s Ribbon” is relatively more detailed. Also it is a lesser-known painting by Yoshitomo Nara, which makes it more valuable. Articks believes it is just a matter of time before the market turns its heels on. For a beginner like you, buy one before it's too late!
Spend HK$15,000 to get Yoshitomo Nara or Takashi Murakami's work, it is indeed affordable to a newbie. Articks will keep sharing more tips and recommendations on how to get high-quality art pieces with affordable prices, stay tuned!
